Because of his academic achievements at Texas Chiropractic College, Dr. Osborne was one of a select few chosen to intern in the rheumatology department at the VA hospital. During his time there, he felt a deep and growing frustration. Surrounded by patients suffering from chronic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, he quickly realized that the standard of care revolved almost entirely around managing symptoms with immunosuppressive drugs and painkillers that never addressed the root cause.
He watched the health of his fellow veterans deteriorate despite the fact that they were following their prescribed treatments. The VA hospital training emphasized pharmaceuticals, but Dr. Osborne’s previous training in nutritional sciences along with a mounting body of research evidence told him that diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors were being overlooked. The more he asked questions about nutrition, toxins, and gluten sensitivity, the more resistance he faced from the doctors in the VA system. It was in those early, disheartening moments that he decided to fully commit himself to finding a better path…one that honored the body’s ability to heal when given the right tools.
After leaving the hospital, Dr. Osborne went on to start his own private practice. That’s when he met a young girl named Ginger. At the age of 2, Ginger had been diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. For 7 years, Ginger received medical care to include powerful steroids, pain killers, antacids, and methotrexate. Her pain was so erratic and uncontrolled that she had to have a port embedded for acute pain medicine administration. After 7 years of treatment, Ginger’s doctor told her mother that they could do no more. He instructed her to prepare for Ginger’s funeral…that she had approximately 6 more months to live.
Ginger’s mother was beside herself with fear and anxiety, and as a last resort, she took her daughter to see Dr. Osborne. Testing revealed that Ginger was gluten sensitive. Additionally, she was reacting to blueberries. Every morning for breakfast, she would drink a blueberry smoothie. Ginger also had multiple nutritional deficiencies that inhibited her body’s ability to heal. After making dietary changes and supplementing with the right nutrients, Ginger began to feel better. Within 6 months, she had her port removed. Within 12 months, she was asymptomatic. To this day, Ginger is doing well.
The power of diet and lifestyle saved Ginger’s life. That’s when Dr. Osborne knew he had more work to do. He dedicated the next many years seeing people like Ginger. Helping them transform their lives with the power of functional nutrition. He spent his spare time researching, writing, and advocating on behalf of those with autoimmune disease. He refined his nutritional practice using technology that would help him better understand the triggers of chronic inflammation. The culmination of decades of research combined with experience, Dr. Osborne developed The Origins Wellness protocols to give struggling people help and hope.
Even “healthy” foods can cause trouble if your immune system flags them as threats. Ongoing exposure to reactive foods drives silent inflammation that can manifest as fatigue, joint pain, skin issues, or digestive distress. Identifying and removing these culprits is often the first breakthrough step toward better health.
Pesticides, heavy metals, plastics, and household contaminants accumulate in tissues, burdening detox pathways and disrupting hormones. Lowering toxic load through cleaner products, filtered water, and targeted detox strategies helps your body reclaim its natural balance.
Your gut, skin, and sinuses host trillions of microbes that influence every tissue in your body. Antibiotics, poor diet, and stress can tip this ecosystem toward microbial imbalance. Restoring microbial harmony is key to resilient health.
Modern diets, depleted soils, and certain medications leave many of us short on essential vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. These gaps weaken cellular repair, energy production, and detoxification. Replenishing critical nutrients through food and supplements when needed reinvigorates every system.
Chronic worry, unresolved spiritual/emotional trauma, and a lack of purpose keep the nervous system stuck in “fight-or-flight.” This persistent stress dampens immunity, hijacks hormones, and sabotages healing. Practices that cultivate peace, mindfulness, community, faith, or creative expression restore the mind-body connection essential for lasting wellness.
Fill your plate with unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods grown by nature not manufactured in a lab. Whole fruits, vegetables, responsibly raised proteins, and healthy fats give your cells the raw materials they need to thrive.
Deep, consistent sleep is when your body repairs and heals. Aim for 7-9 uninterrupted hours in a cool, dark room to wake up restored and resilient.
Regular, sensible sun exposure ignites natural vitamin D production, boosts mood, increases energy production, and supports immune strength. Even a short daily dose of morning or late-afternoon light can work wonders.
Human bodies are engineered for motion. Whether it’s walking, lifting, stretching, or dancing, consistent activity keeps muscles strong, joints supple, and metabolism humming. Use it or lose it.
Roughly 70 percent of you is water. Drinking clean, mineral-rich H₂O throughout the day powers detoxification, digestion, and cognition. Make water your primary beverage.
Fresh, pollutant-free air feeds every cell with life-giving oxygen. Whenever possible, open windows, spend time outdoors, and purify indoor air to reduce the burden of toxins on your lungs and your health.
